The same information on locations that is listed on this website is also published in dozens of books, websites, available from the BLM and AZ Dept of Mines.
Do not call or email me complaining unless you plan on calling every other publisher of gold prospecting information.
If you have a concern a well thought out, kind email will get the most response from me.
However it is doubtful I will remove any information unless book publishers also pull the books off the shelves and all other websites take down the same information.
The Rim Country
About 22 miles south of Payson on 87 is the small town of Rye, Arizona. As you go through Rye on 87 look to the east, you'll see a bicycle/motorcycle graveyard and a bit more north the Rye Creek Bar and Restaurant (RCBR). While standing the parking lot of the RCBR look to the west and you will see a road that crosses 87 then turns north and turns to a dirt road. There are lots of washes and roads in the area as you drive the dirt roads and gold claims too. We have found gold in the washes and hill sides throughout the area. Good sized gold from 1 gram to several ounce nuggets. This is one of my favorite areas. There is a map below with GPS coordinates to get you in the area and a picture of some of the typical terrain.
There are claims in the area so if you see signs or markers stay off the claims. You can usually figure out a claims boundaries by locating the corner markers for the claims. Remember your safety is your responsibility and it is your job to find out if it is legal to be in the area you are in doing what your doing.
Best of Luck!...Rod
